The Saloum Delta, also called the Sine-Saloum Delta, is formed by the mouth of the Saloum River and the Sine River in the Atlantic. Some 76,000 hectares of this delta has been declared a National Park in 1976 and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. As if this were not enough, it was recognized as a Biosphere Reserve in 1980.
